Our first visit on the fashion scene was at Signet Royale’s mini fashion market which took place at I Love My Laundry in Buitenkant street.
We’ve met some really awesome designers who are not only excellent at what they do but also so down to earth and friendly. One of the things that stood out was the immediate connection between the designers. This is what we like to see. At the end of the day what gets the food on the table is by being supported and not competed with. So do to others as you want done unto you.
But back to the fashion:
I Scream and Red really got guests excited because it’s an all eco friendly brand – and who in today’s time wouldn’t want a dope backpack. Raw Joy displayed great authentic pieces that takes courage to wear due to its bold colours and pendents. However that is exactly the type of woman the designer caters for – Fearless.
When people think of swimwear they think “tiny bikini not for me, nee!”, but here you have miss Gabrielle Swimwear who supplies a range making a tiny girl wanting more curves. As for Miss 23 she gives you chic, street and sophisticated trending items that will defs make heads turn.
Signet Royale, the host of the event are proud believers of “rebirth” and through their jewellery they appreciate and celebrate it by designing and making pieces from old bags, waste fabrics, shoes etc. This is what I think of when I think of this brand “What was once old and ugly to you is now beautiful and trendy to me.”.
A great group of people attended this event keeping the ladies at I Love My Laundry on their feet before and after lunch. The Heart&Soul sesh with Ashleigh Davids defs got the crowd by surprise. YES, Cape Town is filled with talent!
One more thing before i rush off….
Spotted at the market were ladies embracing “Black Basics”:
What makes these looks fashionable are the simple combinations.
